7/ Cookies
A. Definition
Article 30 of the GDPR emphasizes that « natural persons may be associated with […] online identifiers such as IP addresses and cookies or other identifiers […]. These identifiers may leave traces which, in particular when combined with unique identifiers and other information received by servers, may be used to create profiles of natural persons and identify those persons. »
A cookie is a piece of information stored on the hard drive of the user’s computer, smartphone, or tablet by the server linked to their browser or by a third-party server. It contains several pieces of data: the name of the server that stored it, an identifier in the form of a unique number, and possibly an expiration date.
Cookies are managed by the browser, so users can configure their preferences. For more information on enabling and disabling cookies, please refer to the dedicated pages of Microsoft, Mozilla, Safari, or Google.
The use of the www.maisonworms.lu website involves two types of cookies:
• those necessary for its operation,
• those that enable it to analyse its audience.
It should be noted that the www.maisonworms.lu website does not use advertising cookies, as there is no advertising on the site.
B. Cookies necessary for the functioning of the site
These files make it possible and more efficient to consult the site, adapt its display to the preferences of the user’s terminal, and ensure its security. Deleting them prevents normal browsing; it is therefore recommended that you accept them.
C. Cookies used to analyse audience data (Google Analytics)
The most popular tool for processing Internet user data, Google Analytics provides website owners with “in-depth, real-time insight into how their site is being used” (see https://www.cookiebot.com/fr/google-analytics-rgpd/).
This tool makes it possible to know which page the user accessed the site from, which pages they viewed next, how they interacted with the site, and how long they spent on each page and on the site as a whole. To do this, Google Analytics adds a tracking code to the pages of the website and records each user using a unique identifier.
“Coupled with its enormous statistical insight into Internet users, Google Analytics can provide very accurate information on segments such as demographic parameters such as age, gender, professional and private interests, geographical location, etc.” (see https://www.cookiebot.com/fr/google-analytics-rgpd/)
For a general idea of the data collected by Google, please refer to its privacy policy.
www.maisonworms.lu ‘s audience analysis is carried out at a global level. Only statistical data concerning the following is collected:
• the total number of unique and/or recurring visits at a given moment in time, during a given year, or, more commonly, since the site was launched,
• the average time spent on the site and the bounce rate,
• the most viewed pages,
• the geographical distribution of visitors.
MAISON WORMS S.C.A. certifies that no other criteria (age, gender, professional and private interests of the user, etc.) are taken into account in the audience analysis of www.maisonworms.lu.
MAISON WORMS S.C.A. undertakes that:
• cookies placed by Google Analytics are used solely for the production of anonymous statistics and cannot be used to track users’ browsing on other websites;
• the IP address used to geolocate the user is no more precise than the city level; in practical terms, the last two octets of the IP address are deleted.
• cookies enabling the traceability of Internet users and IP addresses are not kept for more than 14 months from the first visit.
